Work on the undergraduate supervision system
Fundamental aspects of the overall undergraduate supervision system are currently being assessed by the Colleges via two pieces of work, the joint University and Colleges Teaching Review and discussions with the 'Justice 4 College Supervisors' (J4CS) campaign. The following termly reports provide progress on this intercollegiate work:
- Lent Term 2025
- Michaelmas Term 2024

Teaching Review
In Michaelmas Term 2023 the University's General Board and Colleges' Committee commissioned a Review of Teaching. The Review was concerned primarily with two areas: student workload and its impact on mental health and wellbeing, and the supervision system (in particular the available resources for supervision, both personnel and financial, and how these relate to the quality of educational provision). The recommendations from the Teaching Review were approved in Easter Term 2025.
The 'Justice 4 College Supervisors' campaign
Campaigners under the banner 'Justice 4 College Supervisors' (J4CS) have raised several matters with the Colleges regarding the undergraduate supervision system. College representatives have been meeting over the years with J4CS campaigners to discuss issues raised with the undergraduate supervision system. From 30 March 2023, joint statements on those meetings have been agreed and published:
